Lunar Mansions - 28 Stations of the Moon

Lunar mansions are 28 stations used to map the Moon's daily motion across the zodiac. They function like a lunar calendar layer: each mansion describes a specific tone and set of themes.

What are lunar mansions?

Lunar mansions are 28 stations that track the Moon through the zodiac. Each mansion spans about 12.857 degrees (360/28) and carries a traditional theme used in electional and ritual timing.

How we compute the mansion

  • Compute the Moon's ecliptic longitude for the chosen time and location.
  • Divide the zodiac into 28 equal segments starting at 0 Aries.
  • Assign the mansion based on the segment containing the Moon.

Our data set includes each mansion's name, Arabic label, keywords, and a one-line description used in the Magic Layer.
